Fans from all over New Mexico flooded Civic Plaza to welcome home the hometown champion but little did they know two other locals they heard from are also gaining some national attention.
Holly Holm isn’t the only one getting national attention. Identical twins, Dey and Nite from Gallup, sang the national anthem. They say that wasn’t their first time performing on a big stage.
The three week wait for Holly Holm’s homecoming after her stunning upset win over Rhonda Rousey wasn’t enough to keep thousands of fans away.
Even Governor Susana Martinez made an appearance and so did a set of singing twins.
Dey and Nite say they’ve sung the national anthem at major sporting events such as professional football games as well as the Harlem Globe Trotters. They’ve also toured with Hilary Duff.
They say singing for a champ like Holly Holm is something they’ve always wanted to do.
“This opportunity to sing for Holly Holm is just amazing. We’ve sang this song all over the country for all of our lives. All of our lives we’ve wanted to sing for a champion such as herself, who is such a beautiful person,” Dey and Nite said.
